Reviews and Ratings
The hotel's location is the biggest plus, right next to Haymarket train station making it convenient for day trips to Glasgow and close to Edinburgh city center. The rooms were really dated and poorly decorated, but the breakfast room had everything we could have wanted. The service was straight forward with minimal hospitality needed, but the staff was functional. The dining area provided basic breakfast options that were sufficient. The overall value for money was good, although the interior felt outdated.
The hotel is located in the Haymarket area of Edinburgh, making it very convenient for transportation with friendly staff. While the room cleanliness could have been better and some areas needed decorating, the price was competitive compared to similar chains for work stopovers.
Staying in a single bed room was really cosy in this hotel, with plenty of space to move around and accommodate belongings. Though the high ceiling took a bit longer to warm up, the room felt comfortable overall.
My stay at the hotel had its ups and downs. The rooms were not as expected, with dated 80s decor and a sagging mattress, but surprisingly clean and with a comfortable bed. The service was lacking engagement and friendliness, and overpriced for what was offered. Despite these drawbacks, the location was excellent, close to public transport options and a nice pub. The dining experience was below standard, needing improvement. Facilities were okay, but there is room for enhancement.
I felt perfectly at home during my stay at this hotel. The rooms were a bit cold, especially the bathroom, but within 3 minutes, I was easily comfortable. The service was really good, helpful, and kind, with a clean bathroom and an excellent location around the corner from Haymarket. The location was excellent, with easy access to public transport and a short walk to the city center. The dining experience was a bit rushed, with a self-serve breakfast lacking hot food. Overall, a welcoming and friendly atmosphere near the city center.
My stay at the hotel was a mixed experience. The rooms, overlooking the garden, were clean, large, and charming, but the high windows made the room absolutely freezing, and there was an annoying squeaky noise. The staff's service varied from rude and impolite in some instances, especially regarding a hot water issue, to helpful and kind, with Alastor standing out as particularly friendly and welcoming. The location was a strong point, with easy access to train and bus lines, many restaurants and pubs nearby, including the Haymarket station just around the corner, and various sightseeing spots within walking distance. However, the dining experience left something to be desired, offering basic and occasionally disappointing options. Despite these shortcomings, the quiet area and the convenience of exploring the city the following day were positives.
